| 02.02.07 Virgin Mobile Set To Become Part Of Virgin Media |
Virgin Mobile, NTL, Telewest and Virgin.net are set to become part of a new entertainment company Virgin Media which will be the first company to provide digital TV, broadband, phone calls and mobile all under one roof. So what does this mean for Virgin Mobile? Its hard to say but if you ask me I’d say that Virgin Mobile is set to take a greater chunk of the Mobile Market.
As Virgin Media is sure to have “super saver” packages where subscribers to multiple services will save. I’m also sure that Virgin Media will try hard in upselling Virgin Mobile packages to their current NTL and Telewest customers and penetrating the market deeper that way. Its the smart thing to do as selling to a current customer is normally nine times less expensive then attracting a new one.
Currently Virgin Mobile piggy back their service of T-Mobile, but with this move hopefully it wont be long before they start to use their own mobile phone masts and other equipment which would be great news for those running Premium Rate SMS services as the payouts that are typically 30% less than ALL other UK networks would level up with the other UK networks. Go Virgin Media!
